Chapter 22: Seems Like You Have Forgotten One Thing
Stella was confused.
“I mean the divorce.”
“Thank you, I don’t need it.”
After Stella finished her words, she left without stopping.
Just after she walked out of the door, she felt a resentful gaze from the wall.
Stella ignored it and left straight away.
After going downstairs, Stella asked Sherry for the contact information of the staff of the advertising agency that helped Vivian to take shots today. She directly sent a copy of the recording over.
She was not a kind person anyway. This time, it was not that she was smack talking with Vivian for fun.
She would settle all the scores that should be settled.
…
Half a month later, Puppy Love’ Series was officially launched. The responses from the market were very good and they were all urging other series to be launched.
Stella had gone to the office of SG Jewelry Magazine several times to have meetings. As before, she could still produce three models of jewellery a month but Stanford said that there was no need to rush first. Every product had its market demand so as long as new models could be launched consistently in the market, it would be fine.
The more important thing right now was the international fashion show next month.
SG Jewelry Magazine was the organizer of the show this time and Stella was the designer of SG Jewelry Magazine. If the show this time was held perfectly, the work designed by her would have a great opportunity to appear on stage. It also meant that her design would be recognized internationally.
But then, in addition to designing a successor to the Puppy Love’ Series, Stella was also responsible for the design of all the jewellery of the show this time, which drastically increased her workload.
The good thing was that Stanford had sent an assistant to help her. She only needed to produce the design while the show-related communication with the clothing model and the selection of jewellery material would all be done by the assistant.
Seeing her working in the middle of the night every day, Sherry was a bit worried, “Stella, will you be too tired to work like this, you’re still pregnant.”
Stella touched her belly and said while smiling, “This little one has been very obedient lately and basically doesn’t cause me troubles. I’m fine.”
Sherry knew that she was forced to give up her dream of designing three years ago and this was why she extraordinarily cherished the opportunity now in which she had spared no effort.
After a while, Sherry said, “Then you have to think for the sake of yourself in addition to just working. Horace has looked for me many times recently. It seems that he is almost going to the door of the magazine to stop me. Anyway, you and Clarence have already divorced and he is so persistent, how about you…”
Stella shook her head, “The thing between Horace and I has long since ended.”
“You should consider about it, give yourself a chance and give him one too.”
“Sherry, I’m with a child in my belly now. Do you think Horace will accept to become the father.”
Sherry did not speak anymore.
She wanted to speak several times but she still stopped in the end.
Clarence was really a wretched man. He still caused trouble to her even though she had already divorced him.
…
In Twilight Club…
At the poker table, someone looked at the man sitting alone in the corner and asked with a low voice, “Mr. Conrad seems to be in a bad mood lately. Whenever he comes, he’ll always drink alone and he also doesn’t play cards, what has happened?”
Being the only person in the know, Vincent replied, “What else can it be, he has divorced.”
Hearing about the matter that Clarence had divorced, everyone at the poker table could not sit still anymore. The men were curiously prying while the women were excited and planning to do something.
“Isn’t that Mr. Conrad doesn’t like his wife. He should be happy after divorce isn’t it.”
“Yeah, he’s happy. Isn’t he drinking alone to celebrate.”
The crowd was speechless.
Vincent pushed the cards in his hand, “I’ve won, give money, give money.”
At the halfway point of playing the card game, Vincent was bored to keep winning so he gave his seat to others and sat next to Clarence. He also poured himself a glass, “What’s wrong with you, you come here every day to drink unhappily. Don’t tell me that after your divorce, you suddenly find that you can’t be without your wife.”
Clarence’s action of holding the glass slightly paused. He sneered, “What nonsense are you talking about.”
“What are you doing then?”
“I seem to have been tricked by her again.”
In the past few days, Clarence had calmed down and thought about it. From the time Stella mentioned that she wanted to divorce, she had been leading the matter, including telling the lie about the pregnancy again. She had calculated that he would be angry because of it and so, she deliberately came to infuriate him.
She knew him well enough and everything done by her was to divorce him, which was what she craved for.
Vincent could not understand, “Isn’t this quite a good thing. She doesn’t intend to swindle your money and is no longer planning to dig a pit for you. She just wants a divorce.”
Clarence snorted, “She tried to marry me when she needed money and went to great lengths to get a divorce when she didn’t need me. I’m like a fool who is being cheated by her over and over again.”
No woman in this world was more annoying than Stella.
Vincent racked his brain for a while and suggested a very pertinent opinion, “Why don’t you chase her again and after you remarry her and let her taste a bit sweetness, you divorce her again. It’s a way to dishearten and mentally hurt someone.”
Hearing the word ‘remarry’, Clarence’s throat unconsciously moved. He held the cup in his hand tightly and thought that this method was feasible.
Softly, he nasally gave an ‘um’, “She deserved it.”
Vincent was speechless.
Oh, come on, he was just kidding.
Did Clarence take it seriously?
In Starry Lake Mansion…
When the maid saw that Clarence had returned from drinking, she went to make sobering soup as usual but after opening the cabinet, she found that there was no more sobering soup.
After the maid told Clarence the bad news, he apparently did not have any reaction. He just sat on the sofa and pressed his eyebrows while speaking in an unperturbed manner, “Call her.”
Two minutes later, Stella received a call from Starry Lake Mansion.
“Mrs. Conrad, the house is out of the sobering soup…”
Stella pursed her lips and calmly corrected, “Clarence and I have already divorced. Don’t call me Mrs. Conrad anymore. The matter of the sobering soup isn’t under my control too.”
The maid spoke in a manner as if she was placed in a very difficult situation, “But, Mr. Conrad said that the sobering soup that Mrs. Conrad bought before was very effective. All the others that he drank didn’t work.”
Stella controlled her temper and took a deep breath.
The effect was good, of course. It was personally made by her!
Didn’t the wretched man still disdain it before? What, now only he found that the sobering soup made by her had an invigorating effect!
After Stella calmed down, with the premise that they had at least harmoniously divorced, she still told the maid the ingredients needed and procedures. But, before she finished her words, the phone was snatched away by others.
The next second, Clarence’s hoarse and cold voice sounded, “Stella, you have seemingly forgotten one thing.”
Forget to perish together with you?
Clarence continued slowly, “You have an IOU of two million yuan with me.”
“…”
Stella kept silent for three minutes.
At the other end of the phone, Clarence also patiently waited for her for three minutes.
“I’ll make it and send it to you, wait a moment.”
Finished speaking, she quickly hung up the phone. Her entire person collapsed onto the bed.
She had almost forgotten about this matter.
When she finally managed to muster up the courage to borrow money from him after she married Clarence three years ago, Jeffrey’s debt from loan sharks had already come to the value of more than two million yuan.
